korkia annual general meeting 2025

CEO Insights – Korkia in the first half of 2025

As of June 30, 2025, Korkia’s project portfolio included over 150 renewable energy projects under development across 14 project development companies in eight countries. These projects comprise more than 22 gigawatts of solar and wind power as well as battery energy storage systems (BESS).

The transition toward a renewable energy-based system is accelerating. At Korkia, we continue our work at this turning point as one of the fastest-growing players in Europe. As of June 30, 2025, Korkia’s project portfolio included over 150 renewable energy projects under development across 14 project development companies in eight countries. These projects comprise more than 22 gigawatts of solar and wind power as well as battery energy storage systems (BESS).

Globally, the installed capacity of renewable energy is currently around 4.6 terawatts. To meet the internationally agreed climate target of 1.5 degrees Celsius, this capacity must grow to over 15 terawatts by 2050. We believe that focusing on various stages of renewable energy production will continue to offer excellent investment and return opportunities worldwide.

Our international project portfolio is maturing – More projects approaching construction and exit readiness

Korkia’s project portfolio continues to grow steadily. As of June 30, 2025, the number of projects under development exceeded 150, up from around 135 at the beginning of the year. The portfolio grew by 8% to over 22 GW (21 GW as of June 30, 2024), including 14 GW of solar and wind energy projects and 8 GW of battery storage projects.

During the first half of 2025, Korkia’s Late Phase project portfolio grew by 44% compared to the same period in the previous year. A total of 33 projects progressed to Mid or Late Phase development, approaching Ready-to-Build status. As of June 30, 2025, 104 projects (71 in 2024) were in Mid or Late Phase development, and over 8 GW of Korkia’s project portfolio was in Late Phase development or Ready-to-Build.

An increasing number of projects are progressing toward construction readiness. In August, we announced that a solar and battery storage project in Hertfordshire, UK, had secured planning permission, and that a project in Loviisa, Finland, had reached ready-to-build status

In March 2025, we announced an exit in the UK, where Korkia’s project development company sold the Ready-to-Build Mere Flats project—combining 56 MWp of solar power and a 16 MW battery energy storage system—to NextEnergy Capital, a leading renewable energy investor with a global portfolio of over 500 solar power projects.

Overall, we expect a portfolio of over 6 GW to reach full permitting and construction readiness by 2026.

Enhanced data analytics and key recruitments for improved operational excellence

In the first half of 2025, we made significant investments in the development of our data and analytics platform and the implementation of new features. These improvements have greatly enhanced Korkia’s ability to analyze the progress of various project development companies and projects, and to assess them across different market scenarios.

We have also strengthened our team during the spring and early autumn: Sanna-Maaria Savikko joined Korkia’s institutional client team in early August. Data Analyst Valeriya Bulaeva  and Portfolio Analyst Alvar Tapio have been working at Korkia since May. Ville Säteri joined in April 2025 as Legal Counsel.

The global green transition and energy market developments are on our side

In autumn 2025, we will launch a new alternative investment fund, Korkia Global Renewables LP, offering investors new opportunities further along the renewable energy value chain. The fund will primarily invest in the development and construction of renewable energy plants and battery storage systems in Europe and OECD countries. As Korkia’s fifth international renewable energy fund, it will have access to a well-diversified portfolio of over 22 GW, enabling the selection of high-quality projects for construction.

Geopolitical shifts, growing electricity demand, and the green transition are accelerating the move toward renewable energy, and we believe this momentum will only increase. We are proud to be part of this transformation and are excited to seize the opportunities it brings.
