Korkia has acquired Recap Solar AB’s stake in its Swedish development company, as Recap Solar AB streamlines its development focus towards commercial and industrial solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The dedicated team continues to work full-time on the renewable project portfolio of Korkia Renewables Development Sweden AB.

Renewable energy development in Sweden has a positive outlook

Korkia is currently developing over 600 MW of solar and BESS projects in Sweden. The Swedish project pipeline is maturing and growing as expected.

According to Swedish solar energy association Svensk Solenergi, Sweden added around 847MW of solar in 2024. Sweden’s commitment to carbon neutrality by 2045, combined with electricity demand expected to more than double by 2045, provides a stable foundation for continued renewable energy development.

”The Swedish renewable energy market is attractive due to a strong commitment to transitioning to renewable energy and expected significant potential for new renewable energy investments driven by growing demand for renewable electricity.” says Mikko Kantero, Executive Vice President, Expansion & Origination for Korkia. “Together with an experienced local development team, supported by investment team in Helsinki, Korkia continues to develop renewable energy projects with determination, and we expect to announce additional project milestones in 2025 and 2026 as the project pipeline advances toward construction readiness.”
