Korkia welcomes Maija Alén as Head of Marketing and Communications

Korkia is pleased to announce a new addition to the team and the appointment of Maija Alén as Head of Marketing and Communications. In her role, Maija will lead Korkia’s marketing initiatives, corporate communications, and brand development.

Prior to joining Korkia, Maija worked at Mandatum plc, where she managed customer communications across multiple financial services, including asset and wealth management, investment solutions, pension planning, and personal risk insurance. Her diverse background includes positions at a high-growth SaaS company and a leading Finnish Tier 1 business law firm. Maija holds an M.Sc. in Business & Design from the University of Gothenburg, combining strategic thinking with creative problem-solving.

Q1: What in particular made you want to join Korkia?

My decision to join Korkia was an easy one. The opportunity to contribute to environmental and social impact while working with industry experts made Korkia a compelling choice.

I’m an avid scuba diver who seeks out diving opportunities in every travel destination. The underwater world offers a unique combination of tranquility and excitement: the peaceful weightlessness and gentle sound of bubbles contrast with the thrill of unexpected encounters, like swimming alongside a magnificent manta ray emerging from the deep blue.
