Korkia and BIWO Renewables partner to develop 1 GW of PV capacity in Italy

Korkia, global investor in renewable energy, and BIWO Renewables, an international renewable energy development company with a strong presence in South America and Europe, have joined forces in a partnership to develop a total of 1 GW of photovoltaic (PV) capacity in Italy.

The collaboration encompasses greenfield development with a diversified strategy across locations and technologies, including ground-mounted solar PV and agri-PV projects. Additionally, standalone battery projects will be implemented in congested areas to provide security to the grid and bring diversification to the portfolio.

The first projects resulting from this partnership are expected to reach the ready-to-build stage already during the first half of 2024. When ready, the projects will support Italy in its ambitious targets for accelerating the green transition. The state’s goal is to have more than 80 GW of new renewable energy capacity in production by 2030.
