Korkia announces three internal promotions
Internal promotions in Financial and Portfolio Investment teams reflect Korkia’s commitment to developing talent through meaningful responsibilities.
Korkia is pleased to announce three internal promotions across our finance and portfolio investment teams. These advancements reflect Korkia’s approach of empowering young professionals to grow alongside the business and contribute to impactful renewable energy projects while building strong foundations for their careers.
These promotions follow two senior leadership appointments announced earlier in June – James Spooner as Chief Investment & Finance Officer and Mikko Kantero as EVP, Portfolio Management & Growth – aligning the organizational structure with Korkia’s long-term growth strategy.
“At Korkia, we believe in giving responsibility to those who demonstrate the ability and drive to make an impact. Our commitment is to continue creating an environment where ambitious people can develop, take on meaningful responsibility, and build exceptional careers,” said Anna Idänheimo, CPO of Korkia.
Akseli Tölö promoted to Head of Group Finance and FP&A
Akseli Tölö transitions to the position of Head of Group Finance and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) at Korkia.
Akseli joined Korkia in 2022 as a Senior Portfolio Analyst & Business Controller. In his new role, he will oversee all group finance and FP&A activities, including managing external accounting partners and taking responsibility for monthly and annual group accounting. Akseli will coordinate financial processes across Korkia’s development companies to align group and portfolio financial data, while driving improvements in financial practices. He will also work closely with senior leadership on financial planning and on new financing initiatives and continue to support and mentor the finance team.
“My time at Korkia has been a genuine learning journey. Since joining in 2022, I’ve grown a great deal — both professionally and in how I think about finance and value creation — and this next step feels like a natural progression. I’m grateful for the trust, and excited to keep developing together with such a talented team,” said Akseli.
Alvar Tapio promoted to Senior Portfolio Analyst
Alvar Tapio joined Korkia in March 2025 and has focused on project financial models, valuations, and business case analysis.
Now promoted to Senior Portfolio Analyst, his expanded responsibilities include portfolio analysis, financial reporting, and modeling, as well as supporting exit scenarios and process development with the finance team.
“Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to work alongside colleagues who have challenged, supported, and encouraged me to grow professionally. It has been rewarding to see firsthand how much value can be created through long-term commitment, strong collaboration, and dedication in renewable energy projects. I am grateful for the trust and for this new role, and I look forward to playing a part in building even greater achievements in the years ahead.”
Iivari Poikonen promoted to Investment Analyst
Iivari Poikonen transitions from an internship role to a permanent position on Korkia’s renewable energy investment team.
Iivari joined Korkia in February 2026 as a trainee while finalizing his Finance and Accounting studies. In his new role as Investment Analyst, Iivari’s main focus will be Korkia’s expanding Canadian renewable energy portfolio in Alberta. He has been working closely with the Canadian country management team, Northern Renewables, since the beginning of his internship.
“Working on Korkia’s Canadian portfolio has given me a unique opportunity to contribute to large-scale project development, renewable energy finance and strategic initiatives in an international market. Collaborating across time zones with local teams and leading advisors has expanded my understanding of renewable energy investments and provided valuable insight into the industry as a whole,” described Iivari.
We congratulate Akseli, Alvar, and Iivari on their well-deserved promotions and look forward to their continued contributions.
