Mikko Kantero appointed as EVP, Portfolio Management & Growth at Korkia

Mikko Kantero takes on an expanded leadership role as EVP, Portfolio Management & Growth to drive the growth of Korkia’s international renewable energy project development pipeline and sharpen focus across the investment lifecycle.

With this appointment, Mikko Kantero holds the responsibility for the generation of revenue and operational execution of Korkia’s investment portfolio. He continues overseeing the advancement and quality of renewable energy and powered land projects from early development through to exits, and works closely with local teams and partners, to turn opportunities into mature assets.

In addition, Mikko focuses on growth and development, including generation of new investment opportunities and new markets.

“This role brings together two things that have always been closely linked in my work at Korkia: owning and executing the portfolio we’ve built and continuing to grow it by identifying new opportunities and markets. Having clear responsibility for portfolio execution, exits, and growth allows us to stay focused on turning development work into high-quality assets across the platform,” said Mikko Kantero.

As a long-time renewable energy and business development professional, Mikko has played a pivotal role in growing Korkia’s portfolio and forging new partnerships in key markets since 2018.

The appointment follows an earlier announcement in June, when Korkia shared that James Spooner is stepping into the new role of Chief Investment & Finance Officer, bringing together leadership of Korkia’s economics and capital allocation across the Korkia Group and portfolio. Together, these appointments clarify responsibility across execution, growth, and capital.
