Korkia has acquired the renewable energy business of London-based corporate finance boutique, RSF Capital Partners LLP, strengthening its position as a global investor in the sector.

The acquisition, which closed in October, follows several years of close collaboration between the two companies: together, Korkia and RSF Capital Partners have, established 12 renewable energy project development joint ventures in eight countries, with a pipeline of 11 gigawatts*. The new UK office, established through this acquisition, joins Korkia’s existing offices in Finland and Chile.

“Korkia’s cooperation with RSF has been excellent and our expertise has complemented each other perfectly. In just a little over two years, we have grown a significant portfolio together: we have over 11 gigawatts of renewable energy in active project development across eight different markets. This gigawatt capacity is enough to cover the annual energy consumption of 10 million households*. Furthermore, the total investment value of these upcoming facilities will exceed 9 billion euros**,” says Pauli Mäenpää, CEO of Korkia.

“This is a significant and inspiring step that creates a strong foundation for continued growth and Korkia’s future as an internationally significant investor in renewable energy,” Mäenpää adds.

“This transaction is a natural continuation of the long-term partnership between Korkia and RSF. Korkia has a unique position in the renewable energy investment space with a proven track record in fund raising for development capital and investing in top local development teams. We look forward to our future together as part of Korkia’s global team,” says James Spooner, co-founding partner of RSF Capital Partners and newly appointed member of Korkia’s executive management committee.

Notes to editors:

*With current readings and current gas consumption, 11 GWh would be enough for approx. 10 million households in the UK today (5 million single-family houses).

**This valuation is based on an estimated total cost of building per megawatt of approximately €800,000–900,000 when projects are finished and built.
